This is one of the Eight Peking (Beijing) Sceneries. The Lugou (Marco Polo) Bridge is a bridge across the Yongding River that is located southwest of Guang’an Gate in Beijing. This is the largest ancient stone bridge in northern China. At dawn along the Yongding River, the bright moonshine in the clear sky, the low horizon in the open wilderness, the grey colour at twilight and flashing waves on the water surface form a refreshing atmosphere, and the distant mountain landscape and the flowing river accompanied by a full or new moon would stimulate everyone to indulge in deep mediation.
