This is China’s most important magnesite deposit. Located in Haicheng City in Liaoning Province, the Dashiqiao magnesite deposit is hosted in the Lower Proterozoic dolomite marble of the Dashiqiao Formation in the Liaohe Group. The ore body is stratified, quasi-stratified and large. Most of the ores are high-grade magnesite and the ores also contain symbiotic minerals such as dolomite, talc, and serpentine. The ore bed is a sedimentary-metamorphic type. The mines include the Xiaoshengshuisi magnesite mine, Qingshanhuai magnesite mine and Gaozhuang-Pingerfang magnesite mine in Dashiqiao and the Haicheng magnesite mine and Huaziyu magnesite mine in Haicheng (the Huaziyu magnesite mine is China’s second largest high-quality magnesite deposit) (Fig. 7).
