Dashanpu Dinosaur Fauna

The Dashanpu dinosaur fauna was found at the fossil site of Jurassic dinosaurs and other vertebrates that are 160 million years old. This site is located in the Da’an District in Zigong City, Sichuan Province. Within the excavated site of 2,800 m 2, more than ten thousand fossil bone pieces of over 200 individual fossil types have been found. They include dinosaurs, fish, amphibians, turtles, alligators, pterosaurs and mammal-like reptiles belonging to 18 genera and 21 species, and 20 species are new. The fossils discovered include the herbivorous long-necked Sauropoda, a full set of the short-necked Sauropoda, the fierce carnivorous dinosaurs, the 1.4 m long Ornithopoda, and also an intact set of Stegosauria fossil, which is the first of this type found in China.
