Conghua Hot Spring is also known as Liuxihe (Flowing River) Hot Spring, and it is one of the few springs in the world with radon-containing soda. It is located northwest of Conghua city in Guangdong Province, 75 km from Guangzhou. It is one of the two radon-containing soda springs in the world along with a hot spring in Switzerland. The spring flows from the bottom of the Liuxihe River at a dozen locations along the banks. The spring water is crystal clear without any colour or odour. The spring temperature varies from approximately 36–71 °C. The water has therapeutic effects on various diseases related to arthritis, the skin, digestive organs and nervous system. This spring was developed for use during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it has become world-famous for its excellent water quality, high temperature and spectacular scenery (Fig. 45).
