Chuankang Chen (1931–1997) was a native of Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province, and was a geographer and tourism geographer. He graduated from the Geological and Geographical Department of Peking University. He had served as a professor at Peking University, a doctoral tutor, director of the Department of Physical Geography, director of the Physical Geography Committee of the Geographical Society of China, director of the Human Geography Specialist Committee and Tourism Geography Group, director of the Regional Tourism Development Professional Committee of the Tourism Association of China, deputy director of the Chinese Tourism Earth Science Research Institute, and vice president of the Geographical Society of China.
