This is a landscape with tourism value in a wetland. Wetlands are important ecosystems. They are the transition zones between terrestrial ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems. In the ‘Convention of Wetlands of International Importance’, wetlands are defined as natural, artificial, permanent or temporary swamps, peatlands or water areas with static or flowing fresh or brackish water, including areas where the water depth does not exceed 6 m at low tide. Wetlands are closely related to humans and have been called ‘the cradle of life’, ‘kidney of the Earth’ and ‘bird’s paradise’. They can withstand flooding, regulate runoff, control pollution, modify the climate and beautify the landscape. Wetlands are important tourism resources. China has built many national wetland nature reserves and a wetland park. Shanghai has also set up a wetland geopark on Chongming Island.
