Weihan Yin (1911–2000) was a native of Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. In 1933, he graduated from the Department of Geology, Nanjing National Central University. He had served in the Economics Department of the Nanjing National Government, the Department of Geology at Nanjing Central University, and the Mineral Resources Survey Office of the Resources Committee. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he worked at Nanjing Geological Exploration Technical College, Anhui Mount Tongguan Copper Exploration Team (Head), Nanjing Geological College, Beijing Geological College, and Geological Press (Deputy Chief Editor). In the early days of the PRC, he compiled ‘Mineral Petrology’ and ‘Crystal Mineralogy and Petrology’, which became important textbooks for geological universities at that time.
