Warm currents usually originate from tropical and subtropical seas and have temperatures higher than that of the nearby seawater. The seawater is clearer with a slight blue colour. The salinity is also higher than that of the surrounding water; however, the oxygen, silicate and phosphate levels are lower. Warm currents have substantial impacts on the climate of the coastal regions they flow past.
