An unconformity is an ‘unconformable contact’. It forms when there is a substantial interruption in sedimentation or the formation of a lacuna, and the sequence of palaeontological evolution is discontinuous. This evidence indicates that the ages of the rocks are different. The types of unconformities include angular unconformities, parallel unconformities and disconformities.
