This park is located in the borderland in southern Mahajanga Province, western Madagascar, near Toliara Province, and it has an area of 1,520 km2. Tsingy de Bemaraha Strict Nature Reserve comprises karst landscapes and limestone uplands cut into impressive ‘needle-like’ peaks and a ‘forest’ of limestone. The banks of the Manambolo River form a spectacular canyon with rolling hills and high peaks. The undisturbed forests, lakes and mangrove swamps are habitats for rare and endangered lemurs and birds.
