Tower Peak Granite Landscape (Low Mountain): Chayashan Type

This is a landscape consisting of tower peaks with heights from approximately a dozen metres to 100 m. They form in isolation or in groups in granite masses at elevations below 1,000 m. The overall appearance is similar to an alpine peak landscape, but the peaks are smaller and at higher elevations. The tops of the peaks are rounded, and the landscape is also called a ‘pure tower peak granite landscape’. It is smaller than an alpine peak landscape, and it has numerous features with curving surfaces and collapsed stacked stone caves. Small canyons also form. This landscape evolves from an alpine peak granite landscape. In the early stage, the spikes and prismatic pillars collapse due to structural movement. Due to weathering, the height of the mountain gradually decreases to 500–1,000 m, and as a result of the more intense chemical weathering in a hot and humid climate, the spikes, prismatic pillars and fallen rocks become rounded.
