Due to geological processes driven by internal and external forces, minerals can become mobile and recrystallise to form a new type of rock through physical and chemical processes. These rocks are usually called texture stone and are common in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. Texture stones have clear and beautiful textures, bedding, cleavage and patterns. The beauty depends on its attractiveness, shape and spiritual implications. The textures on the stone mainly form during the formation of the rock. In particular, sedimentary rock layers explicitly reflect such rhythms. Some natural rocks have good textural patterns that can be further revealed through crafting and polishing. Chinese painting stones, colourful cloud stones, Danma stones, peony stones and marble all belong to this type of stone (Fig. 18).
