This climate type is located on the east coast of Asia at latitudes of 35–55° north and south. These areas include north and northeast China and Russia’s Far East. The prevailing wind direction varies significantly between the winter and summer. During the summer monsoon, when the polar sea air is prevailing, it is warm and rainy with small temperature differences between the north and south. The winter monsoon is controlled by the polar continental air masses. The winter is cold and dry, and there are large temperature differences between the north and south. The annual rainfall is between 500 and 700 mm and is concentrated in the summer. Coniferous and broadleaf mixed forest landscapes are common. The landscapes in temperate semi-humid climates are characterized by deciduous broadleaf forests and coniferous and deciduous broadleaf mixed forests.
