Synonym: Tanlu fault

The Tancheng-Lujiang fault zone is called the Yishu Fault Zone in Shandong Province. The fault zone trends NNE and mainly consists of grabens and horsts formed by four faults. It may cross the Bohai Sea northwards to connect with the Yilan-Yitong Fault and Mishan-Dunhua Fault and then extend away from China. It was a large sinistral fault zone in the Mesozoic, but it was reactivated as a dextral shear zone in the Cenozoic. The time of formation and the extent of the translational movement of this fault zone are still debated; however, there is consensus about its significance in the tectonics of China since the Mesozoic.
