Synonym: Mould stone
Shape stone generally refers to a stone, mineral or fossil with its original peculiar shape. It should have the qualities of ‘slimness, wrinkliness, leaking, penetrability and weirdness’. ‘Slimness (Shou)’ implies majesty and masculinity with exposed bones and muscles in a balanced manner. ‘Wrinkliness (Zhou)’ implies an undulating stone surface with many patterns. ‘Leaking (Lou)’ means holes or pores in the rock, which enable people to see through the stone, both up to the sky and down to the ground. ‘Penetrability (Tou)’ refers to the overall porosity and abundance of holes in a stone that can allow water and mist to pass through the rock. ‘Weirdness (Chou)’, the opposite to beauty, simply implies majesty and is an outstanding feature.
