It refers to the study of small towns and rural settlements and is a branch of human geography. In recent years, settlement geography has played a significant role in studies of tourism in villages and towns. For example, the historical and cultural values of the famous Fujian Tulou have been unveiled and publicized with the help of settlement geographers.
