Sedimentary texture is a general synthesis of the grain size, morphology, extent of crystallization, rock properties and relationships of sedimentary rocks. Sedimentary texture is closely related to the genesis of sedimentary rocks. Based on the formation process and grain size, sedimentary rocks can generally be divided into clastic textures, chemical textures and biological textures. According to the size of the clastic grains, clastic textures can be further subdivided into gravel textures, sandy textures, silty textures and muddy textures. Chemical textures are formed by chemical precipitation and can be either cryptocrystalline or phanerocrystalline. Biological textures are textures composed of biological remains.
