A savanna is a tropical or subtropical grassland ecological landscape composed of perennial drought-tolerant grasses mixed with drought-tolerant shrubs and scattered isolated trees. Gramineae dominate the plant community; they are 1–3 m tall and have narrow and erect leaves. The grass dries up but stays in situ for the entire year; hence, the savanna landscape always appears yellowish brown.
