This park is located on the border between Morona-Santiago Province, Chimborazo Province and Tungurahua Province in southeastern Ecuador, and it has an area of 2,719 km2. With its outstanding natural beauty and two active volcanoes, the park illustrates a spectrum of ecosystems, ranging from tropical rainforests to glaciers, with striking contrasts between snow-capped peaks and forests in the plains. Its isolation from human settlements has encouraged the survival of indigenous species, such as the mountain tapir and the Andean condor.
