Rural tourism is a form of tourism that uses rural nature, pastoral scenery, rural folk culture, agriculture, group culture, and residential culture as tourist attractions. China’s modern rural tourism began with the Shenzhen Lichee Festival in the late 1980s. In the early 1990s, rural tourism was rapidly promoted throughout China as a form of poverty alleviation and structural adjustment of the agricultural industry, led by the successful demonstration of the Peach Blossom Festival in Chengdu’s suburban Longquanyishufang Village.
