The main rock-forming minerals are silicates and carbonates. Based on the content, minerals in igneous rocks can be categorized as primary, secondary and accessory minerals. In sedimentary rocks, the common minerals are quartz, feldspar and calcite. Metamorphic rocks are mainly composed of metamorphic minerals.
