This is a landscape of a lake that is formed by the modification of a river course, such as an oxbow lake which is formed by cutting off a meander. Xuanwu Lake and Mochou Lake in Nanjing, East Lake in Wuhan, and Honghu Lake and Hongze Lake on the Jianghan Plain are all oxbow lakes.
