Rio Abiseo National Park, Peru
This park is located along the border between La Libertad Province and San Martin Province in central Peru. The core protection area covers 2,745 km2. The government established the Abisio River National Park in 1983 to protect the unique rainforest plant and animal resources in the Andean mountain region. The park’s flora and fauna include numerous native species. The yellow-tailed monkey, which was once considered extinct, can only be found in this park.
