Reserve Geologique de Haute Provence is located in the upper Provence Alps and Val Province in southeastern France. Its elevation ranges from 400 m to 2,960 m in the highland, and it covers an area of 2,300 km2. It became a member of the Global Geoparks Network in 2004. The area is dominated by agricultural activities (especially sheep, which play an important role in the protection of landscape) and tourism. The focus of the tourism is on leisure, natural scenery and cultural landscapes. Three quiet paths connect different scenic areas. Visitors can focus on fossils, outcrops, history, landscape and vegetation. The geological relics are not isolated, and tourists can increase their knowledge. The museums associated with these three trails are Musee-Promenade (Digne-les-Bains), the Museum of Fossils (Castellane) and the Museum of Geology (Baule).
