This fossil comes from the Mount Everest region. There are abundant Qomolangma ammonite fossils in the Mount Qomolangma region in Tibet. This mountain area was once part of the ancient Himalayan Sea, and the mountains formed during mountain-building associated with crustal uplift. Therefore, the ammonites that lived in the ocean were preserved in rocks and exposed at the Earth’s surface. These fossils are evidence for crustal movements in the Himalayan region and serve as indicators to reconstruct the ancient ecological and environmental conditions (Fig. 5).
