This geopark is located in Pingnan County, Fujian Province, at the borders between Pingnan, Zhenghe and Zhouning Counties. The geopark includes a combination of volcanic geology, landforms and waterscapes. The volcanic rocks record the volcanic evolution in the Baishuiyang area over more than 100 million years. It became a national geopark in 2005. The geopark lies in the middle of the Jiufeng mountain range and has an average elevation of 700–800 m. Its main geologic features comprise the Baishuiyang volcanic riverbed, Yuanyangxi Gorge, waterfalls, columnar joints, river erosion landforms, and the Yiyang large-scale volcanic caldera structures, which contain typical acidic and bimodal volcanic rocks.
