The phases of tourism planning refer to the spatial structure and temporal sequence of tourism development planning in a region. They are usually divided into short-term (5 years), medium-term (10 years) and long-term (15–20 years) planning, and the terms should be consistent with the national economic development plan. Short-term planning focuses on detailed planning of construction projects, medium-term planning focuses on strategic plans, and long-term planning envisions the future development of the tourism industry.
