Palaeogeography includes research on the formation, development and evolution of the natural geography of the Earth’s surface during geological periods, including changes in the land and sea, climate, biological successions, geographical regions, natural areas and natural zones. It is a cross-disciplinary field of geology and geography. The environmental evolution events that occurred in the Mesozoic and Cenozoic have had a profound impact on the modern natural geography, and they are a common research area of palaeogeography. Palaeogeography provides a scientific basis for explaining the formation and evolution of the natural geographical environment and is useful in enhancing the attraction of tourist destinations.
