This type of landscape is composed of broken mountain blocks of granite with relative heights of over 1,000 m and elevations of 1,500 m above sea level. The surrounding slopes are steep and dangerous, and the rock properties are relatively uniform. Vertical joints are well-developed. Major faults are located at the edges of the rock mass, where neotectonic uplift was rapid. Intense collapse due to gravity is the main factor in the formation of this landscape. This is a typical example of a landform that results from tectonic erosion. ‘Huashan Only Has One Road Since Ancient Times’ is the best description of the steepness and ruggedness of this type of landform. The Huashan Scenic Area is an outstanding example of this type of granite landscape (Fig. 7).
