Open space refers to areas that are completely or generally free of artificial structures. In a narrow sense, it refers to relatively open or well-vegetated areas in a city or on the outskirts that are used to improve the urban ecological environment and provide recreational sites for urban residents. Open space can be a playground, a square, or an area with good vegetation.
