Ningwu Ice Cave National Geopark, Shanxi

This geopark is located on Luya Mountain in the northern part of the Lüliang Mountains in Ningwu County, Shanxi Province. It became a national geopark 2005. Its main geological landscapes include ice caves in the Ordovician Majiagou limestone, lakes in mountainous areas, the Ninghua Ancient Town, Ningwu Pass and other human landscapes. The elevation of the entrance to the ice cave is 2,220 m, and the cave is 85 m deep. The cave walls are covered by undulating stratified ice with natural ice pillars, ice curtains, ice falls, ice flowers, and ice stalactites and stalagmites, which are rare.
