This geopark is located in central Portugal and has an area of 4,617 km2. It became a member of the Global Geoparks Network in 2006. The Bonham-Gacia Fossil Trail Park, the Gortes Valley Gorges, the Coron Hall-Douallo Romano Gold Mine, the granite landforms of Gadhaha Mountain, and the granite landscape of Monsanto Town are the main attractions. Geological heritage sites with national and international importance include outstanding landforms, geology, palaeontology, and mining relics. The Naturtejo Geopark opened a hiking network consisting of more than 260 km of trails that invite visitors to discover the geological diversity and culture of the geopark. Visitors can also start their geotourism on the Tajo River and Zezele by taking a trip by boat or kayak. Less adventurous tourists can choose to take a small bus tour of the geological features.
