National Popular Science Education Base (or Centre)

This has been an important initiative of the China Association for Science and Technology since 1999. The mission of this initiative is to increase public interest and enthusiasm in science. The National Popular Science Education Base (NPSEB) in a geopark has the important role of popularising earth science and nature by providing a venue for the public to understand the Earth’s history and the different processes that shape the planet. It aligns with the national strategy of ‘rejuvenating the country through science and education’. Regular education and learning activities, such as talks, fieldtrips, games, and events, are organised for the general public, schools, government or non-governmental organisations and local communities. Currently, many national geoparks in China are qualified and have been accredited as NPSEBs.
