This geopark is located in the southeastern corner of Taihu, Jiangsu Province. The national park comprises more than 20 small islands, including Xishan Island, Taohua Island, San Shan Island and Hengshan Island. The main features are karst landforms, lake erosion landforms, and the natural ecology and human landscape. The stratigraphy of the geopark is from the Silurian to the Triassic and is very well-developed. Substantial evidence of human activity has been found in the karst cave of the East Berth Hill on San Shan Island, and more than 5,000 new and old stone artefacts have been unearthed, including scrapers, spikes, stone balls and stone axes. The Taihu Stone is very famous; it is a porous limestone and is native to the Taihu area.
