This geopark is located in the Changbaishan Mountain Scenic Area in Jilin Province and is dominated by volcanic landforms. It became a national geopark in 2009. Changbaishan Mountain Scenic Area is the largest area of volcanic rocks with the largest number of volcanos in eastern Asia. The Changbaishan stratovolcanoes, most of which are located on the lava platform or plateau, erupted from fractures on the northeastern and northwestern sides of the plateau. The colossal Lake Tianchi near Mount Changbaishan provides spectacular scenery. Other landscapes include waterfalls, hot springs and a well-protected pine forest.
