Mount Arxan Volcano-Warm Spring National Geopark, Inner Mongolia

This geopark is located in northeastern Inner Mongolia in the city of Aershan, Xing’an League, Inner Mongolia, Daxinganling. It became a national geopark in 2004. It has five scenic sites: the Tianchi volcano and hot spring clusters, Rose Peak Granite Pillar Forest, Triangle Passage and Haosengou. The main attractions are craters, crater lakes, volcano lagoon lakes, hot springs, granite landforms, and Quaternary plateaus with meandering rivers. It is an area for scientific research, public education, protection and tourism. Arxan is not the name of the mountain but rather means ‘holy water’ in Mongolian.
