This park is located in south-central Dominica Island and covers a core protection area of 68 km2. The 1,342-m-high volcano, with the volcano Morne Trois Pitons (meaning 3-peaks mountain) as its peak, has dense tropical forests and volcanic features that have significant scientific research value. In the park approximately 70 km2 away, there are steep cliffs, deep valleys, hanging waterfalls, 50 fumaroles, three freshwater lakes, one ‘boiling lake’ and five volcanos. The small mountainous area also contains many hot springs and rich biodiversity.
