Mineral Phosphorescence

Mineral phosphorescence is a phenomenon in which a fluorescent mineral crystal continues to glow for a period of time after external lighting is removed. For example, some fluorites can continue glowing at night after being illuminated during the day. These minerals have the nickname ‘night illuminating pearl’.
