Migmatite is a unique type of rock that is formed by the blending of the materials in acidic rocks (granite) and intermediate basic metamorphic rocks. It has a dual nature akin to both igneous and metamorphic rocks. The mineral composition, rock texture and structure are typically very inconsistent. Based on the extent of migmatization and the rock texture and structure, migmatites can be divided into augen migmatite, striped migmatite and gneissose migmatite.
