A miarolitic structure is typically a crystalline near-circular or irregular cavity in intrusive rocks. Euhedral quartz or other mineral crystals often grow on the walls of miarolitic cavities, and the cavities are generally believed to be the result of volume contraction and expulsion of the volatile portion of the melt during magmatic cooling. Miarolitic structures can be found in the granite in the Tailaoshan National Geopark in Fuding, Fujian Province.
