This is a Meso-Neoproterozoic section in Jixian County to the north of Tianjin City. This section was first published by Gao Zhenxi in 1934. Its profile is simple with clear strata sequences and top and bottom layers. It is a typical site indicating the stratigraphic division and correlation of the Meso-Neoproterozoic geological section, which has a total thickness of 9,200 m and is composed of 3 systems and 12 formations. The bottom portion contains the Changcheng (Great Wall) System (1.4 billion to 1.8 billion years ago), which contains thick layers of conglomerate, quartz sandstone and dolomite rich in iron and manganese that are interbedded with volcanic rocks and breccias. These rocks are rich in stromatolites and micro-plant fossils and can be divided into five formations with a total thickness of 4,255 m.
