This geopark is located in Meijiang Town, Lianyuan City, Hunan Province, and it covers an area of 55 km2. It was approved as one of the fifth group of national geoparks by the Ministry of Land and Resources in August 2009. Karst landforms in Palaeozoic carbonate rocks are the main features, and they are mainly located in the lower mountains and hills. Most of the scenic landscapes are composed of Permian and Carboniferous carbonate rocks. These landscapes are varied and densely distributed. There are also water landscapes, such as karst caves, gorges, peak clusters, peak forests, ravines, springs, lakes, and waterfalls.
