Marine Glacier

Marine glaciers are glaciers that form in the maritime climatic belt. This glacier classification was proposed by glaciologist Shi Yafeng to differentiate marine glaciers from continental glaciers based on the climatic characteristics of the glacier formation areas. Marine glaciers are affected by the maritime monsoon climate, which results in large amounts of rain. Both the accumulation and ablation are rapid. Due to the rapid glacier movement, natural disasters occur frequently in marine glaciers (Fig. 14).
