This park is located in Tawa Village (also known as Taojingu, which means gold-mining valley), Huangsongyu Township, Pinggu District, Beijing. It was approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources on 23 August, 2005, as one of the first group of national mining parks. The park has abundant mineral resources, such as gold, silver, copper, potassium and rare metals. It is composed of three parts, including a mining heritage museum, mine exploitation and metallurgy experience and a display hall of mining equipment. The park employs pictures, inscriptions, models, physical objects, videos, information systems and other multimedia tools that provide tourists an extensive introduction to the discovery and development of the gold mine in the Pinggu District as well as the exploitation, refining and processing technologies and methods used in gold mines. The underground mine tunnel in the park is also open to tourists to allow them to experience the process of gold exploitation.
