Lingyun Xie (385–433) was a native of Yangxia in Chen County (now Taikang, Henan Province) and subsequently moved to Huiji. He was a poet that focused on the landscapes in the Southern and Northern Dynasties. He was fostered when he was a child; thus, his alias was Ke’er or Xie Ke (guest). His poems were mainly about the landscape scenery in Huiji, Yongjia and Mount Lu. He exceled at depicting natural scenery and was the founder of the school of Chinese landscape poetry.
