This geopark is located in Lingchuan County, Shanxi Province, and it has an area of 62 km2. It became a national geopark in 2009. The geopark mainly features karst peaks, gorges, and underground karst caves. The gorge is nearly 900 m high, and the valley in Xiyagou is an icon of the geopark. Its upper part is the Cambrian karst canyon, which is 500–800 m deep and has a relatively wide and flat bottom. The lower part is a barrier valley composed of quartzite of the Changchengian System that is tens of metres wide. Enormous karst caves formed in the brecciated limestone and dolomite of the Majiagou Group and the lower part of the Liangjiashan Group. The most representative karst cave is the Huangweiling hole, which is large and contains large amounts of sediments.
