Numerous lava flows are generated by volcanic eruptions. Each flow of lava is an individual unit, which is called a flow unit. Whether it is a basalt flow (such as at Wudalianchi) or a rhyolite flow (such as at Yandang Mountain), lava flows come from repeated eruptions.
