Laponian Area, Sweden
This area is located in the Arctic region of Sweden in northern Borcht near the border with Norway. The core protection area covers 9,400 km2. It is the traditional home of the Sámi people (or Lapu people). It is the largest (and last) human settlement in the world that still uses ancestral methods of carrying out seasonal migrations of herds. Every summer, the Sami people drive large groups of reindeer into the mountains. Visitors can clearly observe the historical evidence and the evolving geological processes of the moraine landscape and changing rivers.
