A landslide, also known as a landslip landscape or rupture landscape, is a type of environmental geologic landscape. After being saturated by water or when the stability is disturbed, a rock mass or clastic deposit may slide down a slope due to gravity. This process is a landslide. The components include the landslide mass (the entire sliding part of the landslide), landslide scarp (i.e., the rupture wall, which is the exposed boundary between the landslide mass and the stable mass), landslide step and landslide ridge (landslide steps form due to the differences in the sliding velocities of various soils, and landslide ridges form when the steps are rotated or inclined), sliding zone (the crumpled or sheared zone, which can be a few centimetres to several metres thick at the upper part of the sliding surface), slide tongue (i.e., slide front), landslide drumlins (small mounds uplifted by friction at the slide front), enclosed depressions...
