This is a landscape composed of the parallel flows of the Nu River, Jinsha River and Lancang River. The Nu River, Jinsha River (upper Changjiang River) and Lancang River (upper Mekong River) originate in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and pass through the Hengduan Ranges, Yun (Cloud) Ridge, Nu Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain in Deqe Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Nujiang Lisu Nationality Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province. They form spectacular scenery composed of three deep river gorges that run parallel for several hundred kilometres. This is by far the largest World Natural Heritage site in China.
